Information about Gordon Herring from Anonymous

An anonymous comment posted to this blog has led to the findagrave.com memorial for Gordon Herring, and to an entry for Gordon on the Motorsport Memorial website.

In the notes of the Motorsport Memorial website is the following:
Gordon Herring was a resident of Golden, CO, USA, and had raced sprint cars for several years. At the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, MN, USA, he was injured when he rolled his Offenhauser sprinter. He died the next day in a hospital in Rochester, MN.The IMCA Yearbook has this tribute: "Gordon Herring: a businessman, a gentleman and a veteran race driver whose very presence at a meet added class to the presentation. Gordon Herring whose kindness and consideration of others was an inherent part of his character. Gordon Herring who loved racing more than anything else in the world". Herring was buried in Arvada Cemetery, Arvada, CO, USA.

In the sources of the Motorsport Memorial website is the following:

United States Social Security Death Index

Book IMCA Yearbook 1965, Heffron & Wenzel, editors, page 7, article titled "1964 Racing Resume Auto Racing, Inc.", by Frank & Verna Winkley.

Newspaper Albert Lea Tribune, Albert Lea, MN, USA, issue of Wednesday, 26 August 1964, page 9, article titled "Auto Racer Dies From Injuries", feed from Associated Press.

Newspaper Kansas City Star, Kansas City, MO, USA, issue of Tueday, 25 August 1964, page 8, article titled "Minnesota Wreck Fatal", feed from Associated Press.

The sources tribute is quite nice. The notes provide several newpaper articles I want to get copies of.

Thank you to anonymous!

I was married to Bob Herring. He is deceased and we have a son, Tyler, who is 22. Are you related to them? I probably have some pictures of Gordon and maybe articles stored away. Let me know if I can help.
